ABOUT KENT DIXON Kent Dixon graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1980 with a Bachelor of Mathematics. In 1983 he earned his Chartered Accountant designation. From 1978 through 1997 he was with the Brantford office of Millard, Rouse & Rosebrugh, Chartered Accountants, a large regional CA firm. He was a partner of the firm during the last 12 years spent there, looking after over 200 business clients. His focus at the time was looking after the financial reporting, personal and corporate tax planning, and management advisory services for small and medium sized, owner managed businesses. He also performed trustee services and provided investment advice. He spent much of his time dealing with the financing issues of his clients, including seeking and obtaining financing, as well as assisting several clients who were having problems with their lenders due to financial difficulties. He also helped many clients seek out, analyze and manage private mortgage investments. His interest in helping Borrowers find Lenders and Lenders find Borrowers was developed during this period. He gained a great deal of experience working on both sides of mortgage and loan transactions, depending upon the needs of his clients at any particular time. This experience led to the interest in mortgage administration and the eventual launch of Reciprocal Opportunities Incorporated (see below). While at MR&R, he assisted numerous clients in the sale or acquisition of businesses. Services provided in this area included review and analysis of financial information received, negotiations with all parties, assistance with and review of the drafting of legal documents, assistance with financing matters, tax planning for a tax efficient transaction and dealing with valuation issues. He has worked on several multi-million dollar transactions, including some in the mid-eight figure range. His interest in, and experience with this type of work eventually led to the start up of Kent Dixon Consulting Inc. (see below). During 1997, he invested in and commenced his duties as CFO at Marks Lumber Limited, a lumber remanufacturing plant in Brantford, Ontario. From that time until January 2000, when the business was sold to a publicly traded, multinational forestry company, he was instrumental in helping the business grow from annual sales of $21million and a work force of about 50 people, to annual sales of $51million and a work force of more then 150 people. He remained as CFO at the request of the Purchaser for a little over a year. In 1997, Reciprocal Opportunities Incorporated (ROI) was incorporated by Kent Dixon. It was a natural transition to look after the needs of some of his previous clients, as well as his own mortgage investments that he had been dealing in for several years. In ROI's early years Kent managed, first one, then two then more mortgages on a part time basis. In early 2001, after leaving Marks Lumber, he began to focus on the business. Since 1997, the assets under administration have grown from one small mortgage to more then 50 investments representing approximately $50 million in 2010. In 2001, Kent Dixon Consulting Inc. (KDCI) was incorporated. Through KDCI, Kent Dixon has assisted clients in the selling or purchasing of businesses. He has also helped resolve conflicts between shareholders and the drafting of shareholders' agreements. Assistance with financing matters has also been provided. In addition to the above corporations, over the course his career, Kent has had an interest in several other successful companies in the manufacturing, service, investment, property development, construction and information technology sectors.
